Barbara Burnell Cole January 28, 1942 - January 04, 2008 Barbara Burnell Cole, 65, of Lovington passed away January 4, 2008 at her residence. Cremation has taken place. Services will be held at a later date. Barbara was born in Dayton, NM on January 28, 1942. She married Donald Cole on June 22, 1963 in Lovington, NM. Barbara was raised in Lovington and was a graduate of Lovington High School. She moved to Denver and worked for a newspaper as a receptionist and editorial assistant. She loved reading and gardening, worked well under pressure and chaos and handled situations with grace and diplomacy. Barbara had a lot of friends and a good sense of humor. She is survived by her husband, Donald Cole of the home; her mother, Lenora Byrd of Lovington; three sons, Ronald Cole of Denver, CO, Michael Cole of Steamboat Springs, CO and Patrick Cole and fiancée Pam Kent of Arvada, CO; one brother, Lowell “Curly” Byrd and wife Jean of Eatonton, GA; one sister, Glenda Prueitt and husband Len of Brooklyn, NY and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Byrd; three brothers, Archie Byrd, James Byrd and Ronald Smith and one sister, JoAnn West.
