Obituary of Ronald Charles Smith

Ronald Charles Smith Jr. May 18, 1941 - April 19, 2016 Memorial services for Ronald Charles Smith, Jr., 74, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Jackson Ave Baptist Church with Bro. Dave Rowser officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Smith was born on May 18, 1941 in San Diego, CA to Ronald C. and Edith (Ray) Smith Sr. and passed away on April 19, 2016 in Lubbock, TX. He married Sherryl McCullough in San Diego on September 21, 1987 and they have shared twenty nine years together. Mr. Smith grew up in San Diego and loved the beach, the ocean and especially liked fishing. He was a member of Painters Union and loved to paint. He was a union foreman painter for construction companies. He was a family man and would take two weeks in the summers and take his family to Lake Hinshaw for a good vacation time together. He loved being with his family and taught his children how to paint, whether it was houses or whatever. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and two sons: Ricky Lehman and James Smith. He is survived by his wife Sherryl of the home/ four sons: Ronnie and wife Nancy Smith; Donnie Smith and Larry Lehman, all of San Diego, CA and Dale and wife Norma Smith of Arizona; one daughter: Linda and husband Gary Segel of Lovington; eighteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
