Funeral services for Mary Louise Taylor, 89, of Lubbock, TX and formerly of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 3:30 pm NM time. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11th from 1:00 – 3:00- pm NM time at the funeral home, 321 West Washington Ave, and then go to cemetery for service. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mary was born in Petrolia, TX on April 30, 1928 to William Oliver and Zora Ethyl (McDonald) Nix and passed away on August 8, 2017 in Lubbock, TX. She moved to Hollis, OK when she was small and attended school there graduating as Valedictorian of her class in 1945. She met her husband, Glenn Taylor at the skating rink and they were married in Childress, TX on October 31, 1945. In 1950, they came to Lovington to farm and Mary was a homemaker until in the “60’s” when they became involved and partnered with Finis Heidel in the Ag Business, becoming Taylor & Heidel Inc. Mary was active in the Methodist Church and Women’s circle, the garden Club, the Alarm Clock Club and in Lubbock they were charter members of the University Club. She was a great hostess and a wonderful cook and she loved entertaining. Everyone loved going to “BeBe’s” house because she would get up at 3:00 am and bake cookies and there was always good things to eat and do at her house. She was a decorator’s dream and could turn nothing into something beautiful. She will be greatly missed by all.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glenn; one daughter: Susan Denise Demory; three brothers: Weldon, Paul and Jake Nix; Grandchildren: Eric Clayton, Chad Demory, and great-grandson: Cole Jennings.
Surviving her are her children, Gary “Butch” Taylor and wife Diana of Otterbein, Indiana; Adonna Dow of Lubbock, TX and Stacy Vairin and husband Scott of The Woodlands, TX; one brother: Robert Nix of Wichita Falls, TX. Also seven grandchildren: Andy Clayton, Taya Chancy, Lorina Partlow, Tiffany Taylor, Katherine, Kristen and Claire Vairin; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
