Obituary of Lester C. Villers

Lester "Les" C. Villers August 26, 1915 - January 20, 2007 Services for Lester "Les" C. Villers, 91, of Hobbs and formerly of Lovington, are scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel. Rev. Vergil Ichertz will officiate. Burial will be at Lovington Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. Born August 26, 1915, at Wick, Virginia, he passed away January 20, 2007, at Lea Regional Hospital in Hobbs. He was married to Gene Kindel Villers on July 14, 1940, in Lovington. He settled in Lovington with Mobil Oil, later worked briefly at the Houston Shipbuilding Co., Lea County Electric, the sheriff's department as a radio operator, Gulf Oil seismographer, and as a sheriff's deputy before beginning his 28-year career in 1954 as the Lea County juvenile probation officer. During their 66-year marriage, Villers and his wife traveled the United States and particularly enjoyed camping in New Mexico. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Carlton and his wife, Sally Villers, of Abilene, Texas; and Garnet and his wife, Nancy Villers of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Nora Villers, three sisters and a brother. The family will visit with friends at the church following the chapel service.
