Obituary of Mable Dean Walkup

Mable Dean Walkup September 08, 1918 - February 04, 2013 Graveside funeral services for Mable Dean Walkup, 94, of Frisco, Texas will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Resthaven Cemetery with her son, Homer Walkup, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mable was born on September 8, 1918 in Forestburg, Texas to Authur and Addie (Shirley) Anderson and passed away on February 4, 2013 at the home of her daughter Ginny in Frisco Texas. She married A. E. Walkup on February 13, 1936 in Grandfield, OK. They moved to Lovington in 1945 where he was employed by Shell Oil Company for 26 years and she was employed by the Lovington Public School System for 26 years. They were members of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one daughter: Sherry Weaver, one daughter-in-law: Dorothy Abernathy Walkup, one sister: Faye Stradley and one brother: Ray Anderson. She is survived by three children: Homer Walkup of Lake Dallas, TX, Ginny and husband Bud Thompson of Frisco, TX and Ross and wife Sabra Walkup of Durant, OK. Her son-in-law: Richard Weaver of Henderson, TX and one brother, Rex Anderson of Forestburg, TX. Also surviving her are 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
