Obituary of Phillip Clifton Watson

Phillip Clifton Watson February 20, 1943 - July 31, 2017 Memorial services for Phillip Clifton Watson, 74, of Tatum, NM will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 10:00 am at Tatum United Methodist Church with Beth Anthony officiating. The State Police will be serving as the Honor Guard. Phillip was born in Hollywood, CA on February 20, 1943 to Phillip Eugene Watson and Betty (Teutkin) Watson and passed away on July 31, 2017. He grew up in Venice Beach, CA and attended school there. Phillip also attended college for a short while. He joined the US Air Force and served during the Vietnam Conflict as a military policeman. He married Carol Tilton in Roswell, NM in 1980 and they have shared thirty seven years. Phillip enjoyed playing cards, gambling, traveling, watching cop shows on TV and he especially loved working with young kids and teenagers. He went to the schools and taught the “Dare Program” for them and was an unofficial “coach” for kids while serving as a New Mexico State Policeman. He later served the City of Tatum as their Chief of Police for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son: Phillip Watson. Surviving him is his wife Carol of Tatum; one son: Brian Watson of Cedar Park, TX; one daughter: Lynde Navarrette of Carlsbad, NM and one sister: Paula Moskol of Portland, Oregon.
