Obituary of J.D. Cross

J.D. Cross March 09, 1925 - April 13, 2008 Funeral services for J.D. Cross, 83, of Lovington, NM will be 1:30 PM Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Third and Central Church of Christ with Dale Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Mr. Cross was born on March 9, 1925 in Fletcher, Oklahoma. He passed away on April 13, 2008 in Lovington, New Mexico. He married Sarah "Loraine" Love Cross on March 25, 1950 in Altus, Oklahoma. Mr. Cross moved to Lovington in 1957 from Oklahoma. He served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Virgo and the USS Yavapai in the South Pacific. He loved his family, teaching his sons to be Godly men and good fathers. He is survived by his wife, Loraine Cross of the home; one son, Steven Cross and wife Lewana of Lovington, NM; two brothers, Don Cross and wife Betty of Lawton, OK and Travis Cross of Minnesota; three sisters, Audy Lemon of Elk City, OK, Pat Hames of Lubbock, TX and Gaynell Lower and husband James of Amarillo, TX; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Tressie Cross; and one son, Jim Darwin Cross.
