Obituary of Juanita Garcia

Funeral services for Juanita Garcia, 83, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Jesus Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Juanita was born at Lake Arthur, NM on May 16, 1935 to Jesus and Eduarda (Vargas) Medina and passed away on February 10, 2019 at Nor-Lea Hospital in Lovington. Juanita was very ambitious from a young age and worked hard to earn her own money. She enjoyed driving around and looking at old buildings and antiques. She loved farm animals and cook-outs with her family, cross stitching and reading. She liked baking and canning and was considered a "saver" as she felt there was a use for everything. Her ability with numbers was amazing and she enjoyed real estate and "flipping houses" with her husband. She was active with a prayer group that met weekly and couldn't wait for their meeting time. Juanita had a great sense of humor, was determined and strong minded and she loved having her family around. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband: Carlos Garcia; four brothers: Louis, Larry, Paul and Robert Medina and one sister: Lupe Rivas. Surviving her are five daughters: Esther Garcia of Lovington, Rose Mary Garcia of Lovington, Irene Acosta of Carlsbad, Helen Garcia of Wichita, KS and Lisa and husband Jordan Busby of Albuquerque, NM; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren and many friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 13th from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm and Thursday from 9:00 am until Rosary time at 7:00 pm at the funeral home chapel.
