Graveside services for Daniel Rosario Morando Sr, 68, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix with military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Daniel was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on May 25, 1952 to Joseph and Mary (Tanski) Morando and passed away on October 10, 2020 in Lovington, NM. He attended Sunny Slope High School in Phoenix, AZ graduating in 1971. In 1972 he joined the US Army and served from 1972 until 1975 reaching the rank of SP4. In 1974 he married Linda Wooldridge, who has preceded him in death. Daniel served as a police officer in Gassaway, West Virginia and as the Chief of Police in Burnsville, West Virginia and in 1981 he moved to Hobbs, NM and then later to Lovington. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and really liked model trains but the most important thing in his life was his family and his church. He will be greatly missed. Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife. Surviving him is two sons: Jeff and wife Nichole Fountain of Lovington and Daniel Morando II of Abilene, TX; two brothers: Nick and Joe and two sisters: Mary Jo and Toni; six grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 will be from 3:00 -7:00 pm.
